Matrix Energetics was developed by Richard Bartlett, D.C. about 10 years ago. He has taught it to tens of thousands of people over the last few years. Dr. Ou was initially skeptical about how well it would work but was interested since it was been supported by leaders that he respected in holistic medicine. Matrix Energetics has now largely replaced the role that acupuncture had in his practice.
What happens during a session?
A session lasts 10-20 minutes. The patient lies, sits or stands comfortably while Dr. Ou gently touches various points around the body. Many patients report feeling warm or very relaxed. Every few minutes, Dr. Ou will ask how much the patient's symptoms are improving to monitor progress. The treatment is so gentle that many patients wonder if Dr. Ou did anything at all until they notice their symptoms are improved.
How does it work?
There is ongoing research in this area. EEGs and EKGs suggests that when a practitioner starts to work, his brain waves and heart rhythm begin to become synchronized. Furthermore, the patient's brain and heart also begin to become synchronized with the practitioner's. There is growing research demonstrating that this synchronization increases the body's ability to heal itself. One mechanism drawing from acupuncture research is that blood flow to the parts of the brain that regulate healing increase.
NES research and biophysics have suggested there is system of information and energy in the body called the body-field. Health depends on every part of the body communicating with every other part of the body. When information and communication is disrupted, then illnesses can occur. Using Matrix Energetics likely helps to correct information and communication in the body field. In essence, this helps to "re-program" the body.
What can it be used for?
Matrix Energetics can be used for a wide range of disorders. In his practice, he most commonly uses for pain. This includes, but is not limited to:

• headaches (migraine and tension)

up to 90% of people will respond to it.
How many sessions are needed?
An average of 1-3 sessions are needed and they need to be given 1-2 times per week. More chronic and severe problems may require more sessions.
Do you need to return for maintenance sessionss?
No. After the condition is adequately treated, no further sessions are needed unless the condition returns. Many people never need to come back.
How soon can improvement be seen?
Most people will notice a definite improvement within the first 2 sessions. If no improvement is noted within the few sessions, other treatments should be considered.
Do you have to believe in Matrix Energetics for it to work?
No. Matrix Energetics is successfully used in babies and animals. When Dr. Ou started to test it, he didn't tell his patients what he was doing yet they noticed great changes in their symptoms.
Examples of results in Dr. Ou's practice
Several people have seen Dr. Ou for acute migraines and expected to receive pain shots. After working on them, they did not need any medication at all.
Several people have seen Dr. Ou after having pulling or injuring their backs. In most cases, Dr. Ou was able to reduce their pain by at least 50%. They were able to walk straighter and easier.
One patient with back pain and sciatica needed an electric cart to go shopping. After working with Dr. Ou, she was able to use a regular shopping cart with minimal pain.
One woman came in with shortness of breath from a flare up of emphysema. In the past, she would need antibiotics and high doses of steroids. After Matrix Energetics, her breathing returned to normal and she did not need any medication.
