My office accepts all major insurance (Blue Cross, Cigna, United, Kaisier, Medicare, and others) except for Aetna and Medicaid. If my office does not accept your insurance, you may want to see if you have out of network benefits. (Note: In my new Atlanta office, I will not be accepting any HMOs. I will accept a few PPOs to be announced and otherwise will be out of network for other plans. For PPOs that I will not be in network for, they will usually cover a certain percentage of office visits and testing after the out-of-network deductible is met)
As a general rule, most insurance companies do not cover alternative or complementary treatments. Every visit will have a fee for Dr. Ou's time which is called an office visit fee. This is usually covered by a combination of insurance and a co-pay. For those without insurance, office visit fees range from $100-$170 depending on the complexity of the case. Insurance does not cover any supplements or treatments given by Dr. Ou.
The supplements used in Nutri-Energetics are $25 each and most people need 3-4 per month. Each monthly visit will include an office visit fee and NES supplements. Dr. Ou may also recommend other supplements.
The tests used in Functional Medicine range widely in cost, but typically run $100-$400 each. Likewise, the costs of supplements to correct abnormalities found on testing varies on the number of abnormalities found.
Matrix Energetics and Theragem sessions run about $50 in addition to office visit fees. They are typically given once a week for 1 to 2 months.
Typical monthly costs:
For someone doing Nutri-Energetics: Each month: 1 Office visit (co-pay) + 2-3 Nutri-Energetics supplements + additonal supplements (average $100)
For someone doing Matrix Energetics or Theragem: Each month: 4 office visits (co-pay) + 4 Matrix Energetics sessions ($50 each)
For someone doing acupuncture: Each month: 4 office visits (co-pay) + 4 acupuncture sessions ($50-100 each). It is generally more cost-effective to use the other modalities in the Natural Healing Program. This is explained on the acupuncture page.
