Insurance
Dr. Ou's office does not participate in any insurance networks. . If your plan has out of network benefits, which include Medicare and most PPOs (such as Blue Cross PPO, United PPO, Cigna PPO), then his office will help file your claim. In most cases, there is at least partial coverage once the deductible has been met. You should ask your insurance company what your "out of network" benefits are if you have questions about coverage.
Note that insurance will only cover the office visit fee, which is for Dr. Ou's time, and most lab tests. Insurance never pays for any supplements or alternative treatments.
Office visit fees and laboratory testing
Every visit will have a fee for Dr. Ou's time which is called an office visit fee. An initial consultation is 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Follow ups are about 45-60 minutes each.
Due to complex federal laws, doctors who file insurance are restricted from posting their rates for labs and visits. However, you can visit www.healthcarebluebook.com to find out the "Blue Book" rates for Atlanta. Go to "physician" then "office' then level 5 office visits.
- For traditional Medicare, patients are responsible for all of the allowable out of network charges at the time of service. Medicare will later reimburse patients for about 70% of the charges.
- For Medicare Advantage plans, patients are responsible for their co-pay and deductibles.
- For PPOs, patients are responsible for their deductible and the difference between their insurance's out of network reimbursement and Dr. Ou's charges.
- For those without insurance benefits, cash discounts are available when services are paid at the time of service. Our rates are very competitive compared to the Blue Book rates.
Supplements (never covered by insurance)
Insurance never covers supplements. They typically range from $200 to $400 per month.
Laboratory testing
Most tests are partially covered by insurance if you have out of network benefits. Without insurance, complete laboratory testing runs about $3500. Those will excellent insurance coverage may not have any out of pocket expenses.
Typical charges:
Each Month: 1 Office visit + diagnostic tests + supplements. (Out of pocket costs average $200-400 per visit for those with insurance once the deductible has been met).
